For those who prefer online counseling, I do provide counseling through a secure platform. I do find that in person meetings do tend to be more effective, however there are times that online counseling can make sense or even a good choice under certain circumstances.
Before Your First Online Session:
Choose a Device: Computer (with camera, mic, and speaker-larger screen is preferable), smartphone, or tablet works. Earbuds may be helpful, but not required. If you do use a smart phone or tablet, make sure it captures your face(s), and that it is secure so that you are not constantly moving. (It might make me dizzy.)
Secure Internet: Ethernet connection is preferred, but Wi-Fi works as well. (Firefox and Chrome work best, but Safari also works.). Cellular data also works but may not be as reliable depending on signal strength.
Obtain Privacy: Choose a location and/or time that affords you privacy and limited distractions.
Teletherapy Informed Consent: Prior to your first video session, a Teletherapy Disclosure Consent form will be emailed. Please read, complete/sign, and return to me by email or regular mail.
Check In for Your Appointment:
I will send you an email prior to your first appointment that will provide a link to my waiting room.
If prompted, click the box that says turn on microphone and camera.
I will join with you after you are checked into the waiting room. (If you are a couple, please make sure that I can see both of you.)
Scheduling Appointments: You may continue to scheduling appointments by calling me at (225)928-8557. If you are interested in possibly scheduling an appointment for the first time, please call to discuss your reason for seeking counseling and an opportunity to ask any questions that you may have.
Payments: Payments may be made over the phone by Credit Card or by mailing a check.
